If you are looking to make changes for your future in 2015, you will want to take part in this event. Funding is currently available for dislocated and long-term (26 weeks) unemployed workers through the Corporate & Community Training Center in Winsted, MN.
Dunwoody College from Minneapolis has established a training center in Winsted, MN in an effort to quickly respond to the West Region’s manufacturing employment needs. A skilled worker shortage is impacting manufacturers located between Delano-Winsted-Hutchinson-Litchfield. This fall twelve students enrolled in a one-semester (approximately 16 weeks) Welding Technician Program with a second welding class following in March 2015. Depending on employment needs for the local industries, a CNC Machine Operator Program would begin in September 2015. To complement the training eleven businesses have formed a legal entity, “MOVE LLC” – “Manufacturing Opportunities for Vocational Employment” which will provide employment opportunities for successful graduates of these programs, with Felling being one of these.
These industry-recognized, non-credit training programs provide a “local” alternative to the traditional 2-year and 4-year post-secondary college pathways. They also allow recent high school graduates or other adult learners the opportunity to live at home or stay in the immediate area while enrolled in this training. Eliminating high living expenses that accumulate over time at away campuses is a win for students who want to keep college debt at a minimum. The Corporate and Community Training Center (CCTC) also creates a “win-win” situation for employers desperate for skilled workers as well as the graduates of these programs who will be offered immediate employment with a good wage and benefits. Class sizes will be small with an emphasis on hands-on applied learning to utilize a customized curriculum focusing on the skills needed by the local manufacturing companies.
