Just a few short weeks ago, Felling’s Trailer Experts were busy manning our booth D1021 at the 2023 CONEXPO-CON/AGG show in Las Vegas, NV. We want to thank everyone who took the time to stop by our booth in the Diamond lot to see us and our trailers we had on display. Meeting with our dealers, long-time customers, future partners, and vendors was a pleasure. Despite the rainy weather, the crowds were strong in numbers. According to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), the show organizer, 2023 Conexpo, crushed expected attendance numbers drawing over 139,000 construction and fluid power professionals from 133 countries.
Catching the Eye of the Passers By
We showcased our award-winning, Controlled Flow Air Ramp system on the Low Pro Limited FT-45-2 LPL, a tandem axle 22 ½ ton tag equipment trailer. Felling’s Trailer Experts ran operational demonstrations of the 7’ x 38” angle-iron ramps. Operating via an airbag system that works off the same supply as the air brake system. Thus, any airbrake-equipped truck can operate a Felling Trailer equipped air ramp system without any other external power source (e.g., battery, gas engine, or truck-powered hydraulic system). The Low Pro Limited models are standard with a 6’ double incline beavertail. The double incline feature eliminates the sharp break-over point, which substantially helps load and unload tracked equipment. The heavy equipment trailers are available in two model capacities: FT-45-2 LP Limited, a tandem axle 22 ½ tons, and the FT-50-3 LP Limited, a triple-axle 25 tons.
We also showcased the design modifications to the X-FORCE hydraulic detachable gooseneck series with their 55-ton XF-110-3 HDG. The redesign’s driving factors were enhancing operator usability while refining the design and reducing production time and materials. More often than not, an operator must offload/load equipment on less-than-ideal terrain that is soft or uneven. Considering this scenario, the gooseneck stirrups were designed to provide an additional 1-3/4″ ground clearance, making the hookup/disconnect process easier. Auto-ratcheting load blocks have also been factored into the gooseneck design. As the deck is raised into position, setting the trailer’s ride height, the load blocks auto-ratchet into position. An interlocking connection between the load block and the secondary lock mechanism synchronizes the action of the two – eliminating the independent lock handle, reducing, and simplifying the operation process. The XF HDG (hydraulic detachable gooseneck lowboy) models are available in 35 to 60-ton capacities.
Flynn’s Farewell to the Iron Business
Felling’s Northeastern Regional Sales Manager, Mike Flynn, made his last trade show appearance after 22 years with the company. Mike had made his decision to retire from the “iron business” in January of 2023. “Mike Flynn had started with Felling Trailers as an independent trailer sales rep back in 2000 and was instrumental in getting the Felling brand established in the Northeastern US. We wish him the best in his retirement,” said Pat Jennissen, VP of Sales & Marketing Felling Trailers. CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023 was Mike’s final appearance with the Felling Sales team. Many of Felling’s Northeastern dealers that Mike had established over the years stopped to visit and wish him well. For the interim, trailer and/or dealer inquiries for the Northeastern region, may contact Felling’s Internal Sales team at 800-245-2809.
